Sages of the Indian mystical tradition have identified four stages through which we transition in our adult life. At each of these four stages, our longings in life change. Our priorities change. Our outlook for life change.
Yet, many of us resist these changes. Instead of stepping into the flow of life and rejoicing the abundance of fulfillment that it brings to us, we fight against it. We try to conform to certain norms established by society and the media. We hop from one latest trend to the other. Until one day, we get exhausted by this constant effort. And then we decide to align our live with our natural calling.
We don’t have to wait until a setback to rediscover the flow of life. When we properly transition through those 4 stages, life feels like a natural flow. Our longing for a worldly life at a certain stage differs from our longing for a spiritual life.
During this evening, Sujith will expose the 4 stages of life through which we transition as an adult if we allow. Then we realize that life brings more worth to us as we age. Every year shines with more light than the year before. Aging becomes not a dreadful process to be pushed against, instead it becomes a joyful process to look forward to.
When we understand where in these 4 stages we are, we understand our own motives. We also understand why the people around us pursue the things they do. These 4 stages help us realize why our expectations from life are different from those younger or older to us. It will help us recognize why the things we desire in life are different from those desired by other generations.
